Saint Macarena Martyr’s statue arrives in town on a pilgrimage with her devotees. Saint Barbara confronts the virgin who has arrived at her church. Taking inspiration from the “Parable of the Provincial Virgin and the Cosmopolitan Virgin” in the “New Catechism for Reluctant Indians” by Carlos Monsiváis, this short film denounces the conflicts within Mexican society and the discrimination of peasant folk culture and religiosity.
